From adolescent gynaecology to menopause management, Dr Nadim has seen it all. Her experience in caring for women spans rural and metropolitan environments both locally, interstate, and internationally.
Instead of needing to be referred to a separate clinic and a new healthcare practitioner, Dr Nadim performs all her own ultrasounds in her consulting room at Norwest Private Hospital. This accelerates the diagnosis and effective management of your condition.
Dr Nadim believes in a holistic approach to women’s health, one that encompasses the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of her patients. She is committed to empowering women to take charge of their health and wellbeing through every stage of life.
Endometriosis is a common condition that can cause severe pelvic pain, irregular periods, and infertility. It occurs when the cells lining the uterus (womb) grow in other areas of your body, including the ovaries, bladder, and bowels.
Diagnosing endometriosis involves performing an ultrasound technique called sonovaginography, which Dr Nadim can perform during your consultation. This type of ultrasound requires insertion of the ultrasound probe into the body. Treatment of endometriosis can be with medicine to manage pain or control ovulation, or through surgery to remove the abnormal cells.
Often shortened to PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome is a complex hormonal condition. Common symptoms include irregular periods, excessive facial and body hair, weight gain, and acne. PCOS is associated with complications including infertility and diabetes.
The diagnosis of PCOS can be made based on signs of hormonal imbalance, through a pelvic ultrasound to detect cysts on your ovaries, or with a blood test. Managing PCOS can often take a whole team of practitioners, including a gynaecologist to provide the appropriate lifestyle advice and prescribe medications that will help correct the hormone levels.
Menstrual disorders include a number of abnormalities, including excessively heavy bleeding, bleeding between cycles, the absence of bleeding, or very painful menstrual bleeding. Menstrual disorders are often found in adolescent girls aged 10 to 18 years old, as this is a time of significant hormonal changes. However, women at any age, even older women after menopause, can experience abnormal bleeding.
Abnormal bleeding can be due to a wide range of causes and should be evaluated to prevent complications. Investigations can include blood tests and pelvic ultrasound. Depending on the cause diagnosed, Dr Nadim will treat menstrual disorders with surgery or medications to rebalance hormones.
A colposcopy is a procedure to examine the body for signs of cervical cancer or other conditions around the cervix and vagina, such as polyps. Women who return an abnormal result on the cervical screening test may need to undergo colposcopy, but being referred for this test does not mean you have been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
A colposcopy takes around 10 minutes or less and is not usually painful. Depending on what condition is suspected, Dr Nadim may perform a biopsy at the same time, which involves taking a small tissue sample from the area of the body being investigated.
Menopause is a natural period of a woman’s life as she ages. It is usually accompanied by some symptoms, which can differ in their severity from person to person. Common menopause symptoms include hot flushes and night sweats, mood changes, and headaches or migraines.
Menopause is not a condition that needs to be cured. Instead, treatment by Dr Nadim is focused on relieving the symptoms until they eventually go away on their own. This can be through hormone and non-hormonal medications, as well as lifestyle changes.
Contraception is an important consideration for all women of childbearing age who do not wish to fall pregnant at this time. All contraceptive options come with advantages and disadvantages, such as cost, convenience, risks, and effectiveness.
Dr Nadim can discuss which contraception will be most suitable for you and your situation. Options for female contraception include the oral contraceptive pill, intrauterine devices, or contraceptive hormone implants. For women who are confident they don’t want to bear children in the future, permanent contraception is in the form of tubal ligation (tying up the fallopian tubes).
Everything from preconception advice through to birth and delivery and postpartum care, including management of recurrent pregnancy loss.
Providing medical and surgical management for the full range of gynaecology conditions, including menopause and contraception.
A highly specialised area of obstetrics and gynaecology, all pregnancy-related and gynaecology diagnostic ultrasounds are performed on-site.
