Women’s health ultrasound with Dr Batool Nadimexpert sonologist in Bella Vista and Richmond

Why choose Dr Nadim for your pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasounds?

Immediate results

Most other obstetrician/gynaecologists need to refer their patients to a separate imaging clinic or department, lengthening the process. Having your ultrasounds performed by Dr Nadim herself with an immediate expert assessment of the results reduces these delays in treatment and decision-making.

Expertise across both pregnancy and gynaecology ultrasounds

As an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Nadim performs women’s health ultrasounds for expectant mothers and also women having investigations for gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.

Better continuity of care

With Dr Nadim providing both the ultrasound scans and other aspects of your pregnancy or gynaecology care, she has a more thorough understanding of your situation. This also gives her a better opportunity to tailor her care to your personal preferences as she gets to know you.

Pregnancy Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging is an important part of monitoring your baby’s growth, development, and position. Routine scans also provide information about other aspects of your pregnancy, including the position of the placenta or if an ectopic pregnancy (if the fertilised egg is growing anywhere other than the womb) has developed.

Dr Nadim performs pregnancy ultrasounds at the Norwest Private Hospital in Bella Vista as part of antenatal care for her pregnant patients. She can also offer these scans for patients referred from another obstetrician.

3D/4D Ultrasound

While standard pregnancy scans are two-dimensional (2D), 3D scans can form a more life-like image of your growing baby using advanced ultrasound technology. 4D ultrasounds are similar to 3D scans but produce a real-time moving image of your baby’s movements in the womb.

Endometriosis Ultrasound

Endometriosis is a condition involving the abnormal growth of cells outside the womb. It can cause severe pelvic pain and infertility. Before treatment can be recommended, Dr Nadim must perform an ultrasound technique known as sonovaginography (SVG). This assesses the extent and severity of the abnormal cell growth.

SVG involves insertion of the ultrasound probe into the body. It is not painful but may feel slightly uncomfortable. You will need an empty bowel and bladder to improve the quality of the scan.

Pelvic Ultrasound

A pelvic ultrasound scan involves inserting the ultrasound probe into the body to obtain detailed images of the organs inside the pelvis area. This is useful for assessing the health of the womb, ovaries, and surrounding tissues. The images from a pelvic ultrasound can be used to diagnose fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, polyps, and other conditions impacting fertility.

Pelvic ultrasounds are not painful though some women can find them awkward and slightly uncomfortable. There is little preparation needed for this scan, just an empty bladder.

Saline Infusion Sonography

Commonly abbreviated to SIS, saline infusion sonography is a type of ultrasound procedure used to visualise the inside of the womb by injecting a saline solution into it. It is commonly used for assessing infertility or for investigating menstrual disorders or abnormal bleeding after menopause. Hysterosalpingo-contrast sonography (HyCoSy) uses the SIS procedure with the addition of a specific contrast fluid to assess whether the fallopian tubes are open.

The timing of SIS/HyCoSy is best during the second week of your menstrual cycle (counting from the first day of your period). Before introducing the saline solution, Dr Nadim will first perform a comprehensive pelvic ultrasound and review these images to ensure it is safe to conduct SIS/HyCoSy.
